    Ben Hecht

In his artwork, Mr. Hecht employs a wide range of materials and skills. Some compositions include various one of a kind 19th century antiques from Mr. Hecht's collection of ephemera. He uses his own photography, which is then digitally transformed and combined with the antique elements. Working near his home in Santa Cruz, California, as well as such remote locations as Turkey, Greece, New Zealand, Australia, and Hawaii, Mr. Hecht photographs natural objects and landscapes. These images (some shot with specialized underwater gear, form the beginning of highly textured encaustic paintings. Each work tells a unique story. More »

    Damon Ginandes

My work blurs the boundaries of the two and three-dimensional through various techniques and materials. Seemingly flat lines and forms protrude into space. Caught in this spacial ambiguity, the starkly silent, yet distinctly present characters appear aware of their odd predicament. Devoid of context and stripped of external identity, they are portraits of souls - ageless, anonymous, and solitary. Their longing stares serve as a mute communication from which a distinct visual and psychological intimacy emerges. More »

Entertainment is defined as a thing that interests, pleases or amuses. It's my goal to accomplish these very things and to communicate or touch the viewer on some level making them laugh, smile and cry simultaneously. I use distortion as a tool to emphasize and amplify quirks and feelings to push emotions within the viewer in hopes of revealing to them the magic that takes place everyday in our lives. Ultimately, my paintings are about crazy, whimsical characters performing acts from the ordinary to the extraordinary, experiencing hidden emotions that are both hilarious and tragic at the same time. Wolfgang Bauer "QUEER THEORIES"

"Queer Theories" the series of paintings evolved from interdisciplinary studies of Sociology, German literature and Philosophy. It touches on problematic issues such as politics of masculinity and femininity within patriarchal family structures. It also aims to challenge society's rigid parameters of gender, sexuality and expression, evoking a new, more fluid way of thinking. It examines sexual identities and activities without the abusive burden of discriminating categories like "deviant," "unnatural" or "abnormal," and argues that one's essential self and society's whole constructed nature is and should be non-normative. In essence, we are all Queer." More »
