I think of my paintings as each comprising a small, often curious mythology, which addresses a shared understanding of loss and longing in the contemporary world, while at the same time revealing a fascination with the magical and poetic. I am interested in the way that ordinary objects, when juxtaposed with one another or placed in novel contexts, can take on a meaning that is somehow greater than the sum of the parts, that creates a visual poetry that transcends the everydayness from which it arises.

Dan May is an artist living in
Jacksonville, FL. He spends his days (and nights) painting dreamlike environments that transcend space and time. These delightful yet haunting images are often based in personal observations of both human's and nature's relationships with each other, blended with a healthy dose of whimsy, fantasy and cautious relevance. His artwork has graced the pages of numerous publications, and has been shown in galleries throughout the US and abroad. He has received honors from Communication Arts, Society of Illustrators LA, and American Illustration. You can find my prints online at
Charmingwall.

MY AIM IS TO TAKE THE DISPOSABLE AND OFTEN TRANSITORY MOMENTS IN LIFE AND EULOGIZE THEM. I'M INSPIRED BY ROCK AND ROLL, MODERN DESIGN AND SUBCULTURE ART. I AM OBSERVING AND ARCHIVING THE IMAGERY THAT HAS COME ACROSS THE VISUAL LANDSCAPE OF MY LIFE. BY RENDERING THEM TO A HIGH FINISH, I HONOR THE OBJECT. IN WHAT APPEARS REPRESENTATIONAL, I CHALLENGE THE VIEWER TO FIND THE MOMENTS TRANSCENDING THE SURFACE STILL LIFE. I GIVE A SECRET MEANING TO AN OBJECT WHICH EXPRESSES A FORM OF INSPIRATION AND/OR RESISTANCE.

Each of Blaine Fontana's paintings is branded with his unique trademark of twisted and highly stylized figures or animals. Often passive, and somber with a grin, Fontana has labeled these characters "Templings", a fusion of two words, temple and being. Whether these beings are interpreted as people, gods, demigods, myths, shamans or your own reflection is up for interpretation. Neither male nor female they function as the face of a spiritual currency and ambiguity that heavily relates to the therapeutic intent of Blaine's paintings.

Celebrityism is a series of collages focusing on America's obsession with celebrities. News of celebrities has replaced real news, as in the case of Anna Nicole's death and when Paris Hilton went to jail. The public then is bombarded with repeated imagery of these celebrities. The ornate frames are to symbolize the royalty status given to celebrities and there are several religious iconitry references to denote how they have become the gods of modern times. "Celebrityism" represents our misplaced values raising the celebrity above us, culminating in the depreciation of the significance of everyday living.

paint abstract and non-objective paintings that explore the history of European formalist modernism — its genuine achievements and its now familiar, even quaint visual idioms. Products of the early 21st century, but also artifacts of the 20th, made as though for the aesthetic discernment of the 19th. They explore a kind of formalist contingency theory wherein an imaginary history of European modernist painting has evolved organically, peacefully out of its nineteenth-century roots (rather than through their violent rejection, as was by and large the case). The beginning of an art that never was; that might have become; that isn't?

If it's a car I'll paint it. If it's on four wheels I'll paint it. In fact, I'd even dig a John Deer tractor, so long as it had a touch of chrome and some sort of wicked reflection. My name is Greg, and I love cars. I am probably as crazy about your car as you are. I've been painting car portraits for over 15 years. I have painted everything from cars that would drive Ms. Daisy to Gone in 60 Seconds. So here it is, if you know your car is worth painting and you want a portrait of it, contact me. Remember, respect the car.

I am a product of our post modern age regardless of my traditional roots. Relevance to our times is a strong theme in my work. This has challenged me to find shared myths of our age that I can use as subject to epic paintings that the Art academia and the alienated masses can connect with. I'm merging the combined lore of music, film and literature to fuel my figurative narrative paintings. The prologue of my current series, tittled Nativity in Black, introduces the ideas that will lead to more violent works depicting my personal anguish at the nation's financial crisis while using the walking dead as a post-modern narrative device.

i aim to bring together contemporary and ancient mythologies. the girls in the paintings come from the airbrushed world of fashion, while their situations are inspired by religious stories and faerie tales. common themes and narrative plots pull the pieces together to form series of tragic princesses, archetypes, villains, etc.

Hans enjoys analogue as much as digital treatments, this makes for a fresh and modern touch. A simple design one day, next, layer upon layer. The output of his projects can challenge political views or be quirky and whimsical comments on everyday issues. Spray cans and silkscreen are weapons of choice.
