Kevin Miller is a papercut artist living in Monterey, California. Having no prior art training, he just comes into the studio, sketches something he likes, cuts it out with an x-acto knife, and flips it over. He really can't imagine much more to say about his process than that. He also likes to knit stuffed endangered animals and deep-sea fish.

My work is more concerned with immediate visual and emotional impact, rather than with any underlying conceptual theory; in this sense it is closer to advertising and propaganda than it is to traditional fine art. I would hesitate to call myself an artist, as my goal is to create images that are both instantly endearing and accessible - the key is to be deeply superficial.

I work in Los Angeles as a bassist/graphic designer. Before I moved here my friend in Nashville gave me this Peavy bass in pieces, with all the finish stripped. I figure I'll paint it with all my left-over acrylic paint from various art projects. What better way to represent my passion in music and art by using a bass as a canvas and painting all these cool comic book characters? I get a special feeling playing this "piece" since a lot of my time and feeling went into it.

The subject matter of much of Rob's art is dark urban settings, much influenced by his love of dilapidated cityscapes and the amount of shape and texture therein. Using traditional photographic techniques, lot's of cutting and wheat-pasting, silk-screening and spray painted stencils all layered upon themselves he manages to create these images and add an amount of depth to each one before coating them thoroughly in glorious Bull's-eye shellac. Most of the more recent work revolves around a series of animal portraits done using hand-cut stencils with various wood stains on birch wood luan as well as silkscreened / spray painted landscapes that depict a more graphic or "noir" scenery.

Few things are as attractive as a collection of books. They are not only aesthetically beautiful, but convey promise or hold memories. I draw books in two ways: as mute and indecipherable objects which sometimes suggest architectural or biomorphic elements, and as objects which reveal themselves by their titles and associations. Through their grouping and arrangement they convey a subject, a narrative, a thought process, or an opinion. Among my other subjects are people on the brink of suicide and depictions of primates.

I use a unique acrylic paint technique to create collages with contrasting textures and images. Words, ideas, colors, designs, and motifs all overlap to create a seemingly random, yet structured, pattern. My work allows the viewer a glimpse into the subconscious inner workings of my mind. Each piece of work is a snapshot, a moment from my daily life that neatly encapsulates my interests, activities, emotions, and ideas.

I find that the natural world is filled with the most interesting shapes and color combinations, from which I take most of my inspiration. If you look closely at any of my art, you'll see that (as in nature) there's a lot of detail.

Labor-intensive painting and deft mastery of collage co-exist in my work, which is supplemented by the imagery from magazines and personal memories from my childhood in Long Island. My work is figurative and has a strong surreal quality to it. Other big influences have been pop culture and my many experiences with all different types of people from all walks of life. The prettiness of my work is less apparent than its arresting quality, in addition to the assemblage being all there: Reminders of the 60's and 70's, Urban decay, pop art and cultural images of Modern America that have all strongly influenced my lifestyle.

Utilizing reclaimed materials and antique paper ephemera, artist Savanna Snow seeks to explore a mythology of re-imagined gods, Alchemists and Apparitions. These gouache paintings employ gold and silver leaf in addition to archival ink & detritus. Her wood Carvings evoke Orishas or African totems and convey a sense of the ancient. Savanna seeks inspiration from her Trinidadian heritage & Halloween birthday. She resides in the hills of Berkeley, living in a historic studio built in 1897 by the sculptor Robert Payne.

I enjoy making art. It fills my every day. Though I went to art school, it didn't take my love away. Love, lust, sex, romanticism, and happiness are my inspiration. In my work objects are transformed through fetish into organisms that release the essence that their owners put in them, often, that essence is the message they wish to send to their significant other. Besides drawing I also make collages and photographs. I like making small drawings because I believe it is important to be intimate with the viewer. Traveling to warm places also inspires my work.

In my work I explore cultural identity and sexuality through images of perverse yet innocent dolls. Taking cute and cuddly ready-mades and turning them into fetishistic objects, I construct my work on the intensity of coexistence of opposite extremes and remain open to a multiplicity of interpretations.

I had a curiosity about what insanity must feel like. Later I got to find out. The only reason I would reveal this about myself is, by the grace of God I have been given the gift of being able to come back to a point of responsibility and service. I try to communicate the impression that can only come from seeing something you don't understand, and have no frame of reference. In conjunction with this novelty, on a root human collective conscience you might, recognize these abstract forms as comfortably familiar as a door knob in your hand.

With my works, I want to make people aware of the hum they hear in the back of their heads. This soft buzzing sound emitted by plastic and neon, dulled by infomercials. Change is good.

My recent work investigates the ways in which the human world interacts with the natural world. This theme is unquestionably autobiographical. My childhood room was filled with terrariums, cages and aquariums, our suburban back yard with farm animals. I am searching for a way to express my constant personification of the world I inhabit. My work has for a long time reflected my interest in the human relationship with nature as well as with other objects society tends to consider inanimate and/or soulless.
