My work changes each day, and I am finally learning to accept that. Each painting is a new approach that challenges me. I attribute my artisitic A.D.D. to studying Picasso books that covered his career from his Blue Period to Cubism, and my love for eclectic music such as Os Mutantes and Beck. Each song on their records sounds like an entirely new entity from the previous.

What would happen if you took classic 1920's cartoons and Ren and Stimpy episodes, chewed them up with shades of primary colors, and then horcked the whole thing onto a canvas? Nothing as good as Stephen Tompkins' work, for sure, though that's exactly what his pieces remind me of. It's like an abstract celebration of cartoon body parts in a roiling pop orgy. And yet they still remain sparse enough to seem muted. Now I have the urge to watch cartoons. And porn. Although it's pretty difficult to know if that's caused by Tompkins' work or just standard Tuesday morning libido.

My first inclination towards drawing came in my high school years. I later progressed into oil painting when I started to teach myself from any cheesy (or not) how-to book I could get my hands on. I love color, and am forever inclined to paint people in realistic, but slightly forced, distressing situations.

I started with traditional painting, but after my mother had an accident leaving her in a coma, I started to experiment with the abstract idea of alternate realities. During the three months that she was in the hospital, I started using quantum physics and sacred geometry to alter still images in my way of showing the existence of alternate dimensions within the same reality. I choose topics that are transitional and fleeting.

Why do I take pictures? Because nothing lasts. I am a preservationist with a camera. Thus, 10% of profits go towards wildlife conservation. So if you want to save the environment, start with your walls.

Mr. Fox has produced portfolios as diverse as jazz and blues musicians, Venice and female nudes. And there are the drawings and paintings. And the music, too, of course. His web site is just a tip of a huge iceberg.

I'm more interested in a photograph that you can feel, something that is raw and evocative. Life is not just black and white, it's the grey in between that is most important.

Each piece has its own unique story to tell and engages the viewer in subtle ways to allow for an individual interpretation. I let my feelings dictate the composition, and the colors flow without premeditation. The thought of clichés is anathema to my creative spirit, so I do not aim or pretend to please anyone. My only loyalty is to unfettered emotions and innermost thoughts, which allows me to savor the moments and set myself free to experience an entirely fresh journey during the birth of each painting.

My artwork attempts to take order, ordered systems and ordered patterns and shake them up. Nothing is perfect, even though things are modeled in perfect mathematics there are always tiny, sometimes microscopic, imperfections. Incorporating these imperfections into pure algorithmic systems creates a sense of order that we crave visually, but provides a warmer more natural feel that is unavailable through equations alone.
