Justin Snyder

Long Beach based artist Justin Snyder is an emerging Painter and Mixed Media Visual Artist, with roots from west coast graffiti to film and graphic design. Latest works consisting of paintings on canvas and photography have been described as a dimensional layout of echoing harmonics, distorted body forms, and organic abstraction. I like to think of my work in this series as a sequence of exploratory exercises into situations that are removed from my own experience, rather than an introspective journey. There is no single, focused message. In specific, some concepts in this series include frustration, paranoia and a sense of urgency in the face of change. There is a degree of voyeurism in the framing of the scenes, as though the viewer is watching a transitory moment in which the characters struggle to face an imminent threat with insufficient means.
