I am currently a student at Illinois State University and would like to put legitimacy back into "student work." I have been working in many mediums since a young age and feel that I have the ability to create artwork that brings people's imaginations to life. I have been influence by many close friends while growing up who have shown me how to excel in art and how to make a picture look good. I am currently influenced by
artists and styles ranging from van gogh and monet to graffiti style. I want the viewers of my art to be engulfed by the colors and the movement.

Louie Chin's art is inspired by early to mid 20th century illustrations and designer vinyl toys. Ever since he was a wee lad, he has always loved drawing and art. He would create imaginary worlds on the scraps of paper, which were used to cover fabric and garments from a sweatshop that his mum worked at.

I like to build narratives with my art. I'm fascinated by the juxtaposition of the fantastic over the mundane mixed with just enough irreverent humor to keep things interesting.

I was born in Kiev, Ukraine and immigrated with family to the Midwest at age 9. After drawing through high school and facing a brick wall upon graduation, I didn't know what to do with myself but to continue to draw and hope that wall would eventually fall apart. When it finally did, it was too late for college because I had lost interest. I developed my work on my own and life went on. Everything happens for a reason. I love using the unpredictability of watercolor and the power of ink to illustrate messages, themes, and compare humans to animals, and vice versa. I strive for each piece to speak for itself. My work is the only chaos of which I've ever had control, and always will.

In a single image I like to try and evoke the feeling of being in that image. Creating little worlds for characters that don't quite fit there is one of my favorite themes. My work involves animals a lot of the time. Critters seem to add to the whimsy of the scene. I work as a freelance illustrator as well, and always enjoy translating other other peoples words and ideas into imagery. Pen & ink using Photoshop to color is how I create 80% of my work, but I love painting in all different mediums as well. Pen & ink allows me to add lots of detail. I really enjoy hiding little things in each drawing for the viewer to find as they look closely. Look closely.
