The foundation of my work lies in the sculptural visualization of abstract concepts, collected data, and emotional experiences. The objects I create often appear deceptive in their form, but upon further inspection it becomes obvious that they are strongly rooted in truth and original meaning. It is no longer the case that a sculpture can only be found in tactile reality. An object can also exist in a virtual realm, which possesses a rich history of digital manipulation, the imaging of scientific information, and the continual development and invention of technologically advanced processes..

With new artistic tools which can author computer generated faces that can be as real or as abstract or as iconified as we choose, what aesthetic and cultural language do we elicit? Is it the historically rich language of the fine art portrait or the abstracted artifact of the human face. Or the ethnic language of the mask - the icon that speaks of face but is never embodied? I explore the synthetic face in all its forms - the virtuality of the face, for true art has one soul that can be manifest in many realizations and aesthetic forms.

Vinchen wastes time creating reminders for things people would rather forget. In doing so Vinchen hopes to reinvigorate our atrophied sense of outrage and rouse us from the comfortable stupor to which we have grown so accustomed. Vinchen's intention is to redraw the way we receive our surroundings by adding to or removing from what ordinarily goes unnoticed; to create a spectacle hidden in clear view. Sometimes amusing but mostly antagonistic, Vinchen's work has been described as; "I don't get it".

I have no talent and only a desire to create.

A shade is the insubstantial remains of the dead, a phantom without a body or the power of thought. My paintings are a residue much like a shade. Like toxic exhaust, peripheral strangers, and plaque that builds up slowly. That cocoon of schemas, assumptions and anxieties, a web of mythologies and ideologies, my work is an exploration of the place where ideas meet and tangle to form new beasts, new nightmares, new beautiful collapses and pleasurable failures.

Everyone needs a symbol, a stamp, an identifying image which is undeniably theirs. This is me, this symbol is me, and it is The Face. The reason for The Face is to be seen. The Face is unmistakably mine, and The Face will be there looking at you long after I'm gone. The Face is how I present myself to the world. I encourage you to take a face from the site, and take it everywhere. May my face bring you as much comfort as you need as it has given me much more than I deserve.

Photography for me is a creative medium that goes beyond a single photo. I am fascinated how a photo collage renders a two dimensional subject into a three dimensional scene. My work has evolved through the days of film and manual construction to the new age of digital. With the advent of digital photography and the ability to post process images the creative process exploded with new possibilities. I am thrilled with the journey and exploration ahead of me with this medium.

A few years ago I really started missing media. Not new media, but the media I grew up with: pencils, paints, handmade papers. I realized how much I missed the textures, the smells and the process of creating images. My current work is a commentary on a world that could be through the world that is. Visually dense, my work is an assemblage of image, color, texture and typography; a reflection of the myriad fragments of information from which we assemble our own experiences.

Race, religion, gender, sexuality, nationality - tools of identity, symbols of both empowerment and discrimination. People dress in the symbols of their culture, the symbols of who they identify themselves as and who they aspire to be. Many have used markings on the face - tattoos, paint, scars, adornments - to communicate a place in the world, a place in a society. And as cultures, societies, and nations break down - the empowerment these symbols connect to is broken and lost. Sometimes we have to create new ones to take their place. And thus find our place once again.

An amateur Digital Image artist, I am a bit of a plagiarist, using various sourced images in a collaged form, using the layers of Adobe Photoshop like a virtual sculpture in my mind. These sets of pictures were the fruits of finding a hand scanner that still worked! How retro. Otherwise I run a successful Body Piercing clinic in
Bournemouth UK and read blogs all day.
