After graduating from California State University Fullerton in 1982 with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art. I painted portraits, murals, still life, and the human figure on canvas, and paper using all sorts of different water based paints. Moving to Taos, New Mexico in 1997 I switched to digital media because I wanted a "photo real collage" look to the series of mandalas I had envisioned. I've been working in Digital Photo Montage since 1999. My newest series of images are recombinant modern takes on old art.

I created the Lighter of the Month Club as a unique way to distribute my artwork and to transform disposable lighters into collector items. For a nominal yearly fee, members get mailed 4 stickers a month with a cool design perfectly sized for BIC lighters. Members also get advanced notice about the monthly premieres, usually at a Seattle bar, where we check out the latest design, hang out, drink whiskey and maybe even pick-up real lighters. Content-wise anything goes, but it's hard to get away from robots, monsters, science fiction, and catastrophes.

Pop-Taoism is inspired by Neonsandwich's 5 years of study with Taoist master, Dr. Wang Xue-Zhi, whose distinguished family history originates from the imperial court system in the Forbidden City of pre-revolutionary Beijing. Neonsandwich trained in the art of Taoist Philosophy, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, & 5-animal Play. Based on several years of study with Master Wang Xue-Zhi, Neonsandwich has taken the ideas of Jia-Taoism/Philosophical Taoism and merged them with western culture,and New Media, creating the new art form Pop-Taoism. The interplay of Yin/Yang philosophy and formal study under a Taoist master are key to Pop-Taoism.

In my explorations of the world around me, I marvel at the way time, history and nature reform structures and lives, and the stories forgotten objects and structures can tell. Construct is a series of images of places that do not exist, composited from photos of architectural parts I've been collecting for years. I blend together the intricate details of doors, bricks, peeling paint and mortar and gives them a new color and place of their own. As a collection of pieces 'construct' creates places at once surreal and familiar, places that recall parts of everywhere you have been and everywhere you might wish to go.
